2020 Picnic Day in the Old North
The 2020 Picnic Day was of course cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but this did not deter at least two Old North residents from holding their own private -- but still public -- party in their front yard at 517 E Street.
Sacramento Bee photographer Jason Pierce was apparently assigned to scout Davis for signs of Picnic Day activity on April 18 and came onto Deborah Johansson and Charlie Swanson lounging on an air mattress next to the sidewalk midway of the E-500s and he made the accompanying photograph, which appeared on page 2A in the Sunday, April 19, 2020 edition of that paper.
